Bismillah: A simple yet powerful Dhikr to start your day:

الْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ"

Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee 'ahyaanaa ba'da maa 'amaatanaa wa'ilayhin-nushoor.

"Praise is to Allah Who gives us life after He has caused us to die and to Him is the return." [Bukhari]

How do you wake up? Option 1-2-3?

1- Most of us wake up and we reach for our morning does of caffeine. Caffeine helps release dopamine and adrenaline – motivating neurotransmitters, thus gradually waking you up. Problem is more caffeine you consume the more irresponsive your brain comes and thus more caffeine is needed to achieve the same level of stimulation. [Holford 2005b]

2- People stay in bed for a while remembering their problems, occupations & engagements “I have to meet my unfair boss today, I have an exam. I have a deadline and so on. This stressful exercise naturally raises your adrenaline.

3- The best option wake up with dhikr of Allah and say the beautiful dua above. This dhikr first thing in the morning constitutes a quick powerful reminder of our unlimited blessings. By giving praise and thanks to Allah we soundly remind ourselves that there are hundreds of gifts in our lives that we need to thank Allah for. One is the gift of breath or life itself!

[Take 60 seconds...] This simple yet powerful dhikr gives us the motivation and enthusiasm we need to start the day without the intoxicating effects of caffeine and stress. Which option are you? Let us know in the comments box below.

La ila ha ilalla hu Muhammadur-rasoolulla.
